Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between handpoke and machine tattooing?

Handpoke is the process of depositing ink into the skin manually with a needle held in the artist’s hand — it’s a slower but gentler technique, rooted in tattoo tradition.

With a machine, the needle is powered by a motor, pushing the ink in much faster. While it’s better suited for larger pieces, heavy shading or color packing, it can be more traumatic for the skin. Handpoke tends to be less painful and allows for quicker healing. It offers a more relaxing experience, that some even descibe as meditative!

It's ideal for simple lines, small text, or organic-looking designs like dotwork.

Do you offer machine tattooing?

Not officially — I’m still practicing this method and don’t offer it as a regular service yet.
If you’re open to helping me gain experience with machine work (and get tattooed at a discounted rate), head over to my Studio Deals’ page!

How long have you been tattooing for?

I’ve been tattooing since 2018, from my home studio in Montréal, specializing in the handpoke technique. I’ve spent all those years refining a soft, skin-conscious approach.
This method has given me an intimate understanding of how different skin types and areas receive ink, which deeply informs my current venture into machine tattooing.

While I’ve only been learning the machine since March 2025, this prior experience is making the learning curve much smoother and more intuitive.

Do handpoke tattoos last as long as machine tattoos?

Yes! When done properly, handpoked tattoos are just as permanent as machine tattoos. The key is precision and technique — both of which come from years of practice. Like all tattoos, they’ll fade slightly over time, especially with sun exposure, but proper aftercare helps them stay crisp for years.

Do you do custom designs?

Yes! Most of the tattoos I do in Chibougamau are custom work — made just for you.
We’ll talk about your ideas, placement, and style preferences during a free consultation, and I’ll design something that reflects what you’re looking for!

What are your rates?

I don’t charge by the hour — especially for handpoked tattoos, which take longer than machine work. You shouldn’t have to pay extra just because my method takes more time!

Here’s how pricing works: tattoos start at $100; final price depends on size, placement, and design complexity. Flash designs are often more affordable since the drawing is already done — no custom work fee.

How do I book an appointment?

The best way to book is by using the booking page on my website — it’s designed to reduce back-and-forth and make the process smoother for both of us.

The form lets you:

  • Choose whether you’re booking a tattoo or a free consultation

  • Choose your appointment time instantly

  • Describe your idea for a custom project

  • Upload flash, references, or inspiration images

  • Let me know if you’re booking through a promotion

  • Ask any questions in advance

Whether you’re booking a tattoo or a free consultation, the form gives me all the info I need to prepare, so we can focus on the fun part: designing your tattoo! If anything’s unclear or I need more details, I’ll follow up with you directly.

Still figuring out your idea? You can absolutely book a free consultation and we’ll talk it all through together.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes — a $20 deposit is required to confirm your appointment or to claim a flash design. It goes towards the final price of your tattoo.

This helps prevent no-shows and ensures your spot is reserved.

You can pay it directly through the booking form when you choose your appointment time.

What happens after I submit the booking form?

Once you complete the form and pay the deposit, you’ll receive a confirmation email.

I’ll review the details you provided, and I’ll reach out if I have any questions or to answer yours.
If everything looks good, I’ll start working on your design and send you a first draft or concept to make sure it aligns with your vision.

From there, we’ll fine-tune it together if needed. Once you’re 100% happy with the design, we’re all set for your appointment!

Can I change or cancel my appointment?

Yes — life happens!

You can reschedule or cancel directly from your confirmation email link, but please give me at least 48 hours’ notice so I can open the spot for someone else.

Deposits are non-refundable but transferable if you reschedule in time.

Where are you located?

My studio is inside a beauty salon in Chibougamau.

It’s cozy and calm. You’ll get a private, clean, and professional environment — perfect for relaxing while you get tattooed.

I’ve never had a tattoo before. Is handpoke a good first choice?

Absolutely. Many first-timers appreciate the slower pace, softer touch, and calming vibe of handpoked tattoos.
It’s a great way to experience tattooing in a more relaxed, personal setting.

If you’re nervous, I’m happy to walk you through the process and answer any questions!
You can send me a message here, or book a free consultation!

Should I bring anything to my tattoo appointment?

Wear something comfy! If the tattoo’s in a tricky spot, a small pillow or blanket helps if you’ll be laying down. A water bottle and snack are a must — especially for longer sessions.

Some clients also bring a book, or a Switch to stay entertained (which I totally support!).

How do I prepare for my appointment?

It’s often overlooked, but good prep makes the tattooing (and healing) way easier.

Here’s a detailed post with tips on what to doand not to do — before your session.

It’ll help you show up ready to get tattooed!

How do I take care of my healing tattoo?

After your session, I’ll give you an aftercare card to guide you through healing.

If you want to read up ahead of time, I’ve written a detailed guide!
